Sending a Word file to someone who does not have Word is how documents end up with the wrong fonts, shifted margins and a comment thread nobody meant to share. A PDF avoids all of that. This tool reads your .docx and writes a clean PDF of its contents, keeping the headings, bold, italic and list items, in a document that anybody can open and nobody can edit by accident.

How to word to PDF

Add a .docx file
The modern Word format only. The older .doc format is a different, binary format that cannot be read in a browser.

Choose the page size
A4 outside North America, US Letter inside it. Legal is there for documents that need the extra length.

Set the text size and margin
11 point with a 20 millimetre margin is a sensible default for a readable page. Larger margins suit documents that will be printed and bound.

What to watch for

The text is reflowed, not reproduced

Word decides where its pages break using font metrics, styles and layout rules that live inside Word itself. A browser has none of that, so this tool lays the content out again from scratch. Headings, bold, italic and bullets survive. Exact page breaks, tables, images, headers, footers, columns and your original fonts do not. For a plain document, a letter, an essay, a CV, the result is clean and correct. For anything where the design is the point, use Word or LibreOffice to export the PDF instead.

Accented and non Latin text works

A real Unicode font is embedded rather than one of the four fonts built into the PDF format, because those cannot write a single Latvian, Polish, Greek or Cyrillic character. Only the styles your document actually uses are fetched, and only the letters you actually used are stored in the finished PDF.

The result is searchable

Text is written as text, not as a picture of text. You can select it, search it, and copy from it, and so can anyone you send it to.
